On August 26th, the country observes Women’s Equality Day, a day meant to commemorate women’s suffrage and equality. It celebrates the achievements of women’s rights activists and reminds us of the daily struggles that women go through.
As a woman entrepreneur, I have always lived by the quote “When women support women, great things happen.”
I truly believe that it is our job to build and lift each other up and we should mark this occasion to show our loyalty towards women.
On this Women’s Equality Day, please consider these four ways to empower and highlight women in your community.
1. Celebrate One Another’s Success
Just because you are trying to succeed, doesn’t mean that you can’t cheer on other women as well. Others’ wins never take away from your own, so show those around you that you’re there for them and all of their successes along the way.
2. Share Your Knowledge
This goes hand-in-hand with celebrating another woman’s success. Create groups where you can come together and get those creative juices flowing by sharing with one another. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people and sharing helpful tips will help you develop a strong community that will be there for you when need you need them and vise versa.
3. Mentor More Women
If you are someone who has been in business for a long time, why not consider taking a new business owner under your wing. Help them learn the ins and outs when it comes to business. They can learn from your successes as well as your mistakes. While you’re at it, they may even be able to show you a new thing or two to help give you some new ideas as well.
Ever since we moved to Beacon and opened up our store, we have had the pleasure of meeting so many amazing neighbors and business owners. There is no better group of women business owners than our community here.
Here are just some of the many beloved women-owned stores nearby. I am sure I have missed some so make sure to leave a comment with your favorite local woman-owned business so we can all celebrate this special day in the most encouraging way!
