With the summer in full swing, I couldn’t be happier. I adore the delicious scents of the season, from salty ocean air to freshly cut grass, and from the whiff of warm summer rain to the smoky aroma of BBQs.
As I think of all the wonderful scents associated with this time of year, I further delight in thoughts of all the tasty treats that go along with them, from thirst-quenching freshly-squeezed lemonade to ripe strawberries and even grilled corn!
Below, I share three of my favorite summer spots, perfectly paired with a delicious drink or dish, as well as the Nourish Bar Soaps that capture these fragrances and their peaceful locales.
Tropical Beach Escape: Nothing screams summertime quite like the beach. Sprinkle in some palm trees and the smile-inducing scent of coconut and voilà, the mirage of a tropical paradise appears.
Pair it with: The national cocktail of Puerto Rico, a Piña Colada serves up happiness in a frothy concoction of coconut cream, rum and pineapple juice. We headed straight to the source of its creation, in Old San Juan, for the authentic recipe that will surely impress your family and friends. Salud!
Transport yourself there with Coconut Lime Bar Soap: Transform your shower into a beachside haven with the relaxing smell of coconut. Invigorating lime essential oil helps to promote mental clarity, while also nourishing skin with antioxidants.
Picnic in the Park: I love parks in the summer for the lush green lawns, gentle blowing breeze trees and cool shady spots for eating al fresco. It’s also a welcomed respite after too many sun-filled days.
Pair it with: To me, watermelon is the definition of the word refreshing. I love this watermelon, feta and mint salad, as it brings together the very essence of summer flavors. The recipe also suggests heaping on some lemon zest to boost the subtle flavor of the watermelon.
Transport yourself there with Cucumber Melon Bar Soap: Invite a gentle summer breeze into your morning shower with the refreshing aromas of watermelon and cucumber. These natural extracts, along with olive oil, combine to both hydrate skin and reduce inflammation. Vitamin-rich cucumber essential oil also aids in purifying the skin’s pores.
A French Taste of Summer: Is there a more iconic, French summertime photo than that of the immense, bluish-purple lavender fields found throughout Provence? So beautiful. So fragrant. So enchanting. It’s no wonder the lavender plants also make it into their seasonal cuisine, from honeys and sorbets to cocktails.
Pair it with: What better way to honor the south of France and its countless rows of lavender than with the Champagne-based Lavender French 75 cocktail?! Combing the famous bubbles with gin, lavender syrup and lemon juice, it’s both comforting and refreshing at each sip. Santé!
Transport yourself there with Soothing Lavender Bar Soap: Deeply inhale the aroma as you envision your shower transforming into the charming lavender fields in the south of France. Hungarian Lavender essential oil is known for it calming effects on anxiety, insomnia and headaches, as well as for its healing and nourishing benefits on the skin.
I’m super grateful for this summer season, and the ability to enjoy all of the fun outdoor activities, as well as the delicious treats that go along with them.
Hoping you and your families are healthy, happy and enjoying this summer too!
