For the Month of Love, Unplug

Fixed-size issue photo

February, the official month of Love! With Valentine’s Day on the 14th, it seems like this month always has a different type of feel in the air. You take extra time to spend with loved ones, whether it is your significant other, family or your friends – I mean who doesn’t love a Galentine party.

It would be great to make an effort to connect a bit more every day. For my fiancé and me, we try to disconnect from our phones every night to focus a little more on ourselves and our relationship. I do stress the word try.  We, as a society, spend so much time scrolling through social media, checking our inbox or texting to learn what is happening with those who we do not see often, we tend to ignore those that actually are right in front of us.

This February, join us as we start a pattern of focusing on being more present. Instead of going, going, and going, we need to stop, even if for a short amount of time, and appreciate what is right in front of us. Also take this opportunity to refresh and recharge. February is not only a time to show our love to others, but to show it to ourselves as well.

As I mentioned, we TRY to unplug each day, but we all know how hard it is to accomplish this task. Here are some of my favorite essential oils and aromatic soaps I use to help me unwind and focus:

Radiant Rose

It is Valentine’s Day after all. However, if you love how roses smell, but are not known to be the best at caring for real flowers, this is the perfect alternative to you. The scent of roses is of course associated with love, but it is also known to help you feel happier. It is also rich in antioxidants to soothe and heal your skin from acne and irritations.

Baby’s Breath

This is one of my favorites when it comes time for me to destress. Its clean and refreshing scent has some hints of floral like jasmine and lily as well as a bunch of other scents that evoke calmness – exactly what the doctor ordered after a long stressful day.

Coconut Lime

I do not know about you, but when I think of coconut, I envision sitting on beautiful beach, enjoying the sun and looking out at a crystal, clear ocean – and for me that screams relaxation. Not only does the scent of coconut leave me feeling relaxed, but this essential oil combined with lime is invigorating and promotes mental clarity.

Rosemary Mint

This combination of rosemary and mint essential oils are known to aid in mental clarity, stress and anxiety relief and can also help your memory – it also happens to sell amazing. Whether I use this during the morning to kick start my day or at night to decompress, it’s always the perfect choice and one of my personal favorites.

These are all great essential oil and aromatic soaps that will help you start your day off on the right foot or help you relax and decompress after a long day. Either way, when you spend time on yourself to relax, it helps you really focus on those around you and be more present, which is so important.

So, let us all unplug in the name of love! Let us choose to be present for our loved ones and for ourselves. I believe this effort will prove to be more precious and valuable than we could have ever imagined.
